What do I need to fill out my FAFSA? Before you begin filling out your FAFSA, you will need the following documents/info: 

  • Prior year W-2 and other earnings Your parent/guardian will have the option to link their tax information to FAFSA using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool. To do this, your parent will login with their FSA ID after you have begun filling out the FAFSA. This is strongly encouraged- by linking to the retrieval tool, you will not have to enter this information in manually. 
  • Current balances in bank accounts, 529s and other taxable investment accounts (again, this is parent/guardian information)
  • Value of other owned assets (2nd home, rent properties, etc)
